Shadowscene and LAweekly on Rococo Rendezvous

Besides the photos on ZIPPERCUT flickr and ROYAL/T flickr, LAweekly has just published an article about our event as well as some photos! Go check it out!  I love how Gendy described the night and made us “mistresses of ceremonies” keke! Quote: “It’s Shabby Chic before the shabbiness sets in. It’s the icing on the cake… on a cake made entirely of icing. It’s little songbirds who live out entire lifespans in gilded cages woven into your wig.”

SHADOWSCENE also has pictures of her coverage up on her site! Her party candids showed everyone having fun at every square footage of the Royal/T space. Thanks again for coming!!!

ZIPPERCUT Rococo Rendezvous outfits

What I wore wasn’t exactly Rococo, but if Rococo Rendezvous was about the enhanced self then this is what I am: a little punk, a little goth, a little in your face.

Makeup – by Destiny @ M.A.C. (free!); Dress – Luella “inspired” keke; Shoes – Betsey Johnson; Necklace – a Chanel belt ; Veil – Marble bought at Maruione; Stockings – Harajuku sock store; Eyelashes – Shu Umeura; hair – ponytail extension from His and Her Hair on Wilshire and clip on bangs (becoming one of my favorite hair accessories!) from Tokyo Hands.

Camille went blond and i must say it suits her very well.   She looked like a fairytale!  Her dress is Betsey Johnson and she got a little crafty and made a headpiece and a bustle/train all by herself!!!  Send us a picture of your outfits with a short description of what you wore (to zippercut@gmail.com) and we’ll compiled the information and put it on the site!

BALLROOM SCENE: Petit Trianon

If excess luxury is a crime, then the french courtesans would be guilty as charged. Marie Antoinette will forever go down in the history books as the woman who casually uttered, “Let them eat cake,” to a crowd of baguette deprived Parisians. Historians disagree she said that and so do I. Looking at her home made me think Marie Antoinette could not have been that bad because she was blessed with good taste! Her little miracle, the Petit Trianon is in a garden removed from the Versailles Palace.

BALLROOM SCENE: Marc Jacobs Masquerade Holiday Party

Marc Jacobs throws an annual masquerade holiday party.  In 2006 the theme was “ A Night in Venice” in honor of Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette biopic.  Marc dressed as a pastel blue pigeon and all he said the whole night was “I love NY!”.  In 2007 the theme was “Arabian Nights”  and Marc certainly outdid himself, showing up in a “no camel toe” costume.  What will the theme be this year??!!

BALLROOM SCENE: Alice in Wonderland

We are having a halloween costume contest at work and my group is going as the Alice in Wonderland characters!  Naturally, I’ve been doing a lot of Alice research.  Here’s an Alice inspired set:  Who’d have thought a Chloe dress would be so appropriate.
